HANOI (7 Aug 2011) – Current V-League leaders Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) are comfortable with their place at the top of the standings when they opened up a six-point lead following their easy 3-1 win over Navibank Saigon at the Vinh Stadium this week.
Helio opened account for SLNA with a header on 14 minutes before Trong Hoang doubled the advantage with the second goal in the 54th minute as Fagan then widened the gap with the third goal ten minutes later.
Navibank’s only goal in the match came off SLNA defender Huy Hoang’s own goal deep in injury time.
With the full three points, SLNA have picked up 45 points – six points ahead of second-placed Hanoi T&T (39 points from 22 matches) and Da Nang (39 points).
Elsewhere, Hai Phong edged Hoa Phat Hanoi 2-1 to move out of the relegation zone off a brace from Thiago at the Lach Tray Stadium.
At the Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi ACB lost 3-2 to Ninh Binh while two goals in the first half by Van Nghia and Felix helped Dong Thap stun Thanh Hoa 2-0.
At the Pleiku Stadium, Tang Tuan’s last minute goal earned Hoang Anh Gia Lai a 1-0 win over Khanh Hoa as Da Nang easily beat bottom place Dong Tam Long An 2-0 off goals from Merlo (10th minute) and Ngoc Thanh (86th minute).
