CHIANGMAI (8 December 2025) – A first-half winner from Otu Banatao was enough for the Philippines to edge Indonesia 1-0 as they confirmed their slot to the semifinals of the Men’s Football event as Group C winners.
At the 700th Anniversary Stadium here in Chiangmai, the 19-year-old Otu headed home the only goal of the game deep in injury time of the first half (45th+2) to give the Philippines the well-deserved win over the defending champions.
The second full three points – following their earlier win over Myanmar in the first game of Group C – was enough for the Philippines to book their slot in the semifinals this year.
The loss for Indonesia meant that they will have to make the most of their last match in Group C on 12 December 2025 against Myanmar, should they want to take the spot as the best second-placed team in the competition.
