PHNOM PENH (24 March, 2008) – Phnom Penh Empire FC exacted just revenge over bitter rivals Naga Corp FC to make the semi-finals of the Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Decho Hun Sen Cup 2008.
Phnom Penh, who were pipped to the Cambodian Premier League crown recently by Naga Corp, were all satisfaction at the end of a largely entertaining encounter when they beat the latter 2-1 at the National Olympic Stadium. Two goals in the first half off Chan Rithy (in the 42nd minute) and Gbenga Samuel a minute later gave Phnom Empire the advantage although Chego Tkapi did pull a goal back deep in injury time for the final scoreline. In the other quarter-final match of the day, Build Bright University went past Lions Squad FC 2-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the championship this year. Goals from N. S. Ahiem in the eighth minute and Prom Put Sithy in the 42nd minute were enough to give Build Bright the win. PIC: NAGA CORP FC (in yellow) up against PHNOM EMPIRE FC (in red) |
