BANGKOK (11 Dec 2011) – A disappointing 2-2 draw suffered by Muang Thong United this week against basement side Khon Kaen FC has given further impetus to Buriram PEA chasing their first ever Thai Premier League crown.
In the match that was played at the Khon Kaen Stadium, Muang Thong were in confident mode after Anon Sangsanoi gave them the lead after just nine minutes before Teerasil Dangda then doubled it just into the second half.
But a late Khon Kaen charge in the final two minutes from Saksit Yuencheewit and Choke Sukkaew saw the latter grabbing the valuable one point and denying Muang Thong the chance to close in on the leaders.
In the meantime, Muang Thong were in control all the way at the Suzuki Stadium as they sealed a well-earned 1-0 win over Sri Racha with the only goal in the game coming off Franck Ohandza just before the break.
With the three points, Buriram are now 16 points ahead of second-placed Muang Thong and 17 points in front of third-placed Chonburi.
Elsewhere, SCG Samut Songkhram fell to a 3-2 loss to TTM Pichit at home at the Samut Songkhram Stadium while TOT SC were held scoreless by Si Sa Ket FC at the TOT Stadium.
