BANGKOK (14 June 2012) – Former champions SCG Muang Thong United came back from a goal down to beat Insee Police United 3-1 as they maintained their position at the top of the Thai Premier League 2012.
In the match that was played at the SCG stadium, the visiting Insee Police stunned the homesters when Pokklao Anan nailed the opener on 34 minute. But Macedonia’s Mario Djurovski equalised for the Kirins two minutes before the interval for both teams to be tied at the half.
Some minor reshuffling later saw Muang Thong clawing back into the match with Thai international Teerasil Dangda finding the back of the net twice in the 59th and 78th minute for the full points.
After 14 matches, SCG Muang Thong have picked up 34 points – nine points ahead of second placed BEC Tero Sasana, who won 3-2 over Osotspa M-150, but having played a game less.
Third is Chonburi FC who this week overcame Chiang Rai United 2-1, for 24 points from 12 games played.
Defending champions Buriram United only picked up one point this week when they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Pattaya United. In the match at the I-Mobile Stadium, Pattaya United went ahead after 23 minutes through South Korea’s Kim Doo Yong but Teerathorn Boonmathan earned a point for the home side with the equalizer in the 79th minute.
Buriram are currently fourth having played ten matches for 22 points.
Elsewhere, BB-CU fell to a 1-3 loss to Thai Port as Esan United scored a 1-0 win over Bangkok Glass. Army United marched to a 1-0 victory over Samut Songkhram while Wuchchon United scored a 2-0 home win over TTM Chiang Mai. TOT battled to a 1-1 draw against Chainat.
