PETALING JAYA (15 February 2026) – Malaysia Women’s Futsal head coach Zamhuri Zainuddin is optimistic of Malaysia’s chances at next week’s ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2026.
The second edition of the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship will be held from 24 February to 2 March 2026 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
“Although we will face a great challenge from Thailand and Indonesia (the other teams in Group A), we will make sure that the team stays competitive,” said Zamhuri.
“My focus for this squad is to improve the players’ fitness and mental strength, while at the same time formulating the best tactics to absorb the attack of both the Thailand and Indonesian teams.
“Realistically, both of these teams have a better squad and preparation than us, but we will give our all in these two matches.”
For the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2026, Jamhuri has retained just six players from the SEA Games squad last December, while at the same time giving opportunities to three new faces – Nur Farah Wahida Norlee and Thivyashini Jegatesan from MBSJ FC, and Nur Harizah Mohd Zaini from UiTM Lioness FC.
