HO CHI MINH CITY (2 May 2015) – Bottom of the table is hardly a familiar place for defending champions Thailand but that is where they are at the moment after the first match day in Group A of the AFF Women’s Championship.
In the two matches that was played yesterday Thailand conceded a 3-0 loss to the Under-20 side of Australia while Laos edged Indonesia 2-0.
With the defeat, Thailand found themselves at the bottom of the table behind leaders Australia U20, Laos and Indonesia.
“I was very surprised by the performance (yesterday). I just don’t know what happened,” said Thai coach Nuengrutai Srathongvian.
“We created a lot of chances but just could not find the back of the net. It was a problem. So we will just need to be better for the next match (against Indonesia on 3 May).”
