
CHONBURI (5 December 2025) – Defending champions Vietnam made a thumping start to their SEA Games 2025 campaign when they put down Malaysia 7-0 to take the lead in Group B at the IPE Stadium in Chonburi.
It took Vietnam just four minutes to grab the lead through Phạm Hải Yến before Nguyễn Thị Bích Thùy then added the second goal in the 23rd minute.
Hải Yến then added her second and Vietnam’s third in the 26th minute, as Trần Thị Hải Linh then gave Vietnam the 4-0 advantage at the breather.
The second half was al Thái Thị Thảo when she fired in a hat-trick (48th, 59th and 78th minute) to give Vietnam their first full points in the group.
In the meantime, in an earlier match of the group, Myanmar scored a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Philippines, riding on a late winner from May Htet Lu in the 89th minute.
Win Theingi Tun’s fourth-minute lead for Myanmar was cancelled out by Mallie Ramirez in the 69th minute.
