
BANGKOK (3 December 2025) – Host Thailand made a smashing start to their SEA Games 2025 Men’s Football campaign when they smashed Timor Leste in Group A, while Vietnam edged Laos in their Group B opener.
At the Rajamangala Stadium, the host walked off 6-1 winners over Timor Leste in Group A to underline their determination to win the gold medal they last won in 2017.
Yotsakorn Burapha was on fire with a hat-trick (44th, 70th and 72nd minute) to be followed by goals from Siraphop Wandee (49th), Iklas Sanron (60th) and Kakana Khamyok (83rd).
Timor Leste’s only goal of the game came from Palamito Caffin late in the game (90th+3).
In Group B, Vietnam had a double from Nguyễn Đình Bắc (28th and 60th minute) to thank for their 2-1 win over Laos.
In between, Khampane Douangvilay scored for Laos in the 28th minute.
