NAYPYITAW (21 Dec 2013) – A double from Harris Harun early in the first half gave Singapore a hard-earned 2-1 win over Malaysia in the fight for bronze of the men’s football event here at the Zeyar Thiri Stadium.
With the Malaysians off colour, probably still reeling from their loss in the semi-finals to Indonesia, some poor defending allowed Harris to pop in the first goal in the 11th minute.
Three minutes later, poor defending again saw Harris making good on a fumble from the Malaysian backline.
It was not until the second half that Malaysia finally woke up with A. Thamil Arasu working hard in search of the goals. And in the 69th minute, Malaysia finally broke through off Thamil’s effort.
