SINGAPORE (30 Oct 2014) – Former East German international Jürgen Raab has joined the Singapore national teams management on a year’s contract.
Raab was capped 20 times by East German and where he has worked with renowned coaches such as Hans Meyer, Bernd Schuster and Matthias Sammer. The 55-year-old has a FIFA Pro-Licence, football’s highest coaching qualification, and a Diploma in Sports. As a coach whose responsibilities include overseeing fitness programmes, he won the 2007 German Cup with FC Nürnberg.
His immediate task is to work with Singapore’s head coach Bernd Stange and Aide Iskandar for the National Under-23 team in their preparations, especially in the area of fitness, for the SEA Games in 2015.
“I am delighted to be joining the FA of Singapore. It was an easy decision to join FAS as I am impressed by the professionalism of the management, and the Strategic Plan in place. I look forward to doing my part for Singapore football,” said Raab.
Added Stange: “I am delighted with the appointment of Jürgen, who has an excellent reputation in Europe and recommended by top coaches like Hans Meyer. His extensive experience at the highest level of European football, both as a professional player and a coach, will definitely aid us in our quest for more success on the field.”
