JAKARTA (20 December 2025) – The FA of Indonesia (PSSI) have called it a day with Indra Sjafri as head coach of the Indonesian Under-22 national team.
The 62-year-old, who had delivered the Men’s Football gold medal two years ago in Cambodia, could not do the same in Thailand this time around when the team was bundled out at the group stage.
“We have reported the matter to the PSSI Exco, the President, the Deputy President, and the FA as a whole. After conducting a joint evaluation, we agreed that the first step is to terminate coach Indra Sjafri’s employment with PSSI,” said Sumardji, Chairman of the PSSI National Team Management and member of the PSSI Exco.
At the same time, Sumardji announced his decision to step down from his position as the team manager of the Indonesian national team at all age groups.
“I will hand over my duties and responsibilities as manager of the national team, both senior and age groups, including the post as the next SEA Games national team manager,” Sumardji stated.
