BANGKOK (26 Oct 2014) – With three matches left, Thai Premier League (TPL) leaders Chonburi FC are cautious about their chances of landing the crown this year as former champions Muang Thong United were deducted nine points this week.
Chonburi who leapfrogged over defending champions Buriram United earlier this month, will have to maintain their cool even though they will be playing away to mid-table side Bangkok United.
The Pattaya-based side is currently one point ahead of Buriram at the standings.
“We have to focus on ourselves and play with spirit and team work. I am confident that we will beat Bangkok United because we will be playing at home,” said Chonburi coach Mashahiro Wada to Bangkok Post.
“We cannot underestimate any opponents. We cannot afford any slip-ups as Buriram cannot be overlooked.”
In the meantime, Muang Thong’s hope of winning the crown is as good as gone after they were deducted nine points after their fans clashed against supporters from Singhtarua in a TPL the previous week.
