SINGAPORE (4 December 2025) – Johor Darul Ta’zim FC scored twice in stoppage time to salvage a 2-2 draw with Cambodia’s PKR Svay Rieng FC in Phnom Penh on Thursday as the Malaysia Super League champions retained top spot in Group B of the 2025/26 ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™.
Shane Lowry inspired JDT’s late comeback, the defender scoring in the 92nd minute and setting up La’Vere Corbin-Ong to nod in a dramatic equaliser four minutes later after first half goals from Cristian Roque and Nhean Sosidan had put Svay Rieng in control and seemingly poised for an upset win.
The result keeps JDT in pole position in Group B with Xisco Muñoz’s side moving onto seven points from three matches, one point clear of Vietnamese champions Nam Định FC, who saw Nguyễn Xuân Son score a hat-trick in their 3-0 win in Yangon over Shan United FC.
Lion City Sailors FC, meanwhile, squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with hosts Bangkok United FC as both clubs picked up their first point of the campaign.
JDT were given a fright when Cristian Roque put hosts Svay Rieng in front with a rasping drive in the 29th minute and Sosidan hit the second from close range eight minutes later for the Cambodian Premier League champions.
Matt McConkey’s side looked to be on their way to their second win in the competition but Lowry’s header at Herberty’s corner two minutes into added time set up a grandstand finish with Corbin-Ong heading in the equaliser.
Nam Định picked up their second win with a comprehensive victory over Shan United as Xuân Son made a difference on his debut appearance in the Shopee Cup™.
The Brazil-born Vietnam international, who recently returned to action after breaking his leg in Vietnam’s win over Thailand in January’s final of the ASEAN Championship, netted a penalty in first half stoppage time before doubling his side’s lead in the 51st minute.
Xuân Son completed his hat-trick three minutes from time when he swept the ball home from six yards out after Mark Sekyi’s sending off five minutes earlier had reduced Shan United to 10 men.
In Pathum Thani, Lion City Sailors seized the early initiative with goals from Maxime Lestienne and Anderson Lopes inside the opening 20 minutes, only for the home team to salvage a draw.
The Singapore Premier League champions struck in the 11th minute through a glorious goal by Belgium’s Lestienne, the 33-year-old winger cutting inside and unleashing a left-footed shot which beat Patiwat Khammai.
Ten minutes later the visitors doubled their advantage, this time with Brazilian forward Lopes squeezing in a shot into the bottom left corner after latching onto a perfectly-weighted through ball from Tsiy Ndenge.
Bangkok United fought back in the 24th minute when an unmarked Jakkapan Praisuwan was allowed the space to hit a low shot from outside the box past goalkeeper Ivan Susak and, with 14 minutes remaining, Seia Kunori made no mistake from close range.
