JAKARTA (1 October 2026) – Host Indonesia booked their place in the final of Division One FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 in fabulous fashion when they thumped Bangladesh 9-2 at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
Needing a good margin to deny Malaysia, who were playing in another province in Bandung, a quick double from Mitchell Lee Baker (11th and 20th minute) put Indonesia well on the way.
Rizky Ridho then added a third in the 32nd minute before Shahriar Emon pulled a goal back for Bangladesh four minutes later.
Two further goals from Lee Baker (37th and 42nd minute) and then another from Justin Hubner (45th+1) put the score at 6-1 for Indonesia at half-time.
Luke Vickery (90th), Kevin Diks (90th+6) and Lee Baker (90th+7) scored the rest of the goals as Bangladesh added another through Farhaan Ali Wahid (90th+1) for the final scoreline.
In the meantime, Malaysia scored their biggest win over Singapore in years, beating them 6-0 at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung. It matched the record set way back in 1978.
Newly naturalised player Bérgson Da Silva was on a hat-trick (8th minute penalty, 62nd, 90th+3), Stuart Wilkin (26th), Paulo Josué (76th) and Muhamad Syahir Bashah (87th).
However, the big win was not enough for the Malaysians to get a shot at the title, as they will now play in the classification third-place match on 5 October 2026.
