Under his stewardship, FIFA has continued to strengthen governance, elevate the quality and reach of its competitions, and expand impactful development programmes across all regions. These efforts have fostered greater unity, professionalism, and growth within the global football ecosystem, including across the ASEAN region.
During President Infantino’s tenure, ASEAN has emerged as a dynamic and trusted host of major international events, including the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023, the 74th FIFA Congress Bangkok 2025, and the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025. These milestones reflect the region’s rising stature and its growing contribution to the global game.
The AFF also acknowledges FIFA’s continued support through the FIFA Forward Programme, which has played a transformative role in advancing infrastructure, technical development, education, grassroots initiatives, and elite pathways throughout Southeast Asia.
Speaking on behalf of the Federation, AFF President Major General Khiev Sameth said:
“The ASEAN Football Federation values the spirit of unity, collaboration, and mutual respect that defines the global football community under the esteemed leadership of President Gianni Infantino. His vision and commitment have strengthened the foundations of the game and expanded opportunities for development across all regions.”
He added:
