AFF Council Advances Preparations for Congress and ASEAN Hyundai Cup™ 2026
The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) convened its 10th Council Meeting on 14 November 2025 via video conference, chaired by AFF President Major General Khiev Sameth.
The Council received updates on preparations for the AFF Ordinary Congress 2025, scheduled to be held in Hua Hin, Thailand.
In view of the expiry of the terms of the AFF Judicial Bodies in 2026, the Council called for the convening of an Extraordinary Congress to elect the Judicial Bodies ahead of the next AFF Congress.
The Council received updates on the AFF Member Associations Development Programme Fund (MADPF), including the Lao Football Federation’s approved project to upgrade the Lao National Football Stadium, as well as projects under the AFF Stadium Enhancement Fund for clubs participating in the ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ 2025/26.
On competitions, the Council congratulated Vietnam on winning the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025 and Australia on winning both the ASEAN Women’s Championship 2025 and ASEAN U16 Girls’ Championship 2025. The Council also commended the respective host Member Associations for the organisation and delivery of the competitions, which once again showcased the strength of football across the region.
The Council also received updates on the upcoming ASEAN U16 Boys’ Futsal Championship 2025 and ASEAN U19 Boys’ Futsal Championship 2025 in Thailand, as well as the ongoing ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ 2025/26.
A key decision of the meeting saw the Council approve the revised competition dates for the ASEAN Hyundai Cup™ 2026, which will be staged from 24 July to 26 August 2026.
The Council also ratified the decisions of the AFF Competitions Committee, the Ad Hoc AFF Member Associations Development Programme Fund Committee, and the AFF Legal Committee.
