SINGAPORE (6 June 2026) – The Singapore Men’s National Team suffered a 2-1 defeat to China PR in their second preparatory match of the June FIFA International Window on Friday (5 June), but Head Coach Gavin Lee was encouraged by his side’s response after a difficult opening spell against the 94th-ranked visitors.
Backed by a 4,688-strong crowd at Jalan Besar Stadium, the Lions found themselves under pressure early on and were fortunate not to fall behind in the 13th minute when captain Wei Shihao’s header from a cross on the right flank rebounded off the post.
The breakthrough, however, arrived just four minutes later. Winger Xie Wenneng delivered an inch-perfect cross into the penalty area and Sai Erjiniao rose highest to head home unopposed.
