HANOI (23 May 2026) – The Vietnam Under-17 team has been drawn in Group G of the FIFA U17 World Cup against Mali, Belgium, and New Zealand.
Vietnam are making their first-ever appearance at the world’s biggest youth football tournament.
“The group is highly competitive with the participation of representatives from Africa, Europe, and Oceania – regions that possess physically strong football and competitive experience,” said VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu.
“However, participating in the FIFA U17 World Cup is a very proud historical milestone for Vietnamese football. More importantly, this will be a valuable opportunity for young players to continue to grow, gain experience, and assert their capabilities.”
The FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2026 will take place from 19 November to 13 December 2026, with 48 teams divided into 12 groups.
Teams will play a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout stage.
