HANOI T&T IN THE LEAD IN VIETNAM SUPER LEAGUE

HANOI (8 Feb 2012) – Hanoi T&T grabbed the lead in the Vietnam Super League 2012 when two goals from international Nguyen Van Quyet allowed them to see off debutants Kienlongbank Kien Giang 2-1.

With strikers Ngoc Duy, Sy Cuong and Attram Kwame all not finding the target, it was left to Van Quyet to carve the lead in the 57th minute off an easy tap-in. But in spite of scoring the equalizer off Ganiyu Bolaji Oseni in the closing stages of the game, the visiting Kien Giang side failed to maintain focus when they allowed Hanoi to drum in the winner.

Quyet completed the double with another close-range effort for Hanoi to pick up the win and collect 10 points from four matches.

In the meantime, defending champion Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) were tied 1-1 with host SHB Da Nang. Despite taking the lead off Hector Hughtun Kerin, Da Nang just could not maintained their composure when Gaston Merlo’s header gave them the valuable one point on the road.

With the draw, Da Nang dropped from first to third place with eight points from the same four games played while SLNA rose from sixth to fifth position with seven points.

Elsewhere, Becamex Binh Duong trounced Ha Noi FC 3-1 while Dong Thap went home with a 3-1 victory over Khatoco Khanh Hoa. Navibank Sai Gon beat former champions Hoang Anh Gia Lai 2-0; Ninh Binh handed Thanh Hoa their first loss of the season with a 1-0 win.
